Knitting 101- 25 dollars- Introduction to the world of knitting. Learn about different types of yarn, how to read a yarn skein, what needles to buy, what needles are offered, learn to basic knit and purl, cast on and cast off. This class is for the knitting virgin or for someone who has forgotten.

Materials (not included in fee): Scissors or yarn cutter; Light-colored worsted weight yarn (wool, wool blend, acrylic or acrylic blend); US 7 or US8 Straight, Single Pointed Needles; tapestry or darning needle; ruler or knitting gauge tool.

                          Homework and pre-requisite for Knitting 102 – Knit a guage swatch based upon row/stitch suggestion on your skein label.  Beginning with 4 rows of garter stitch, then continuing with row 5 as follows k all sts, row six k 4 sts purl until 4 sts before end of row, knit last 4 sts.  Continue repeating rows 4 & 5 until you reach he appropriate size of your swatch.  Make last 4 rows in garter stitch and bind off.  Bring this swatch with you to the knitting 102 class) 

Knitting 102- 25 dollars Introduction to pattern reading and combination stitches. You’ve got down the tension, you have a consistent knit and purl. Now it is time to combine knitting and purling to achieve different results. You will also learn the basics of pattern reading and begin a project in this class which you will finish on your own.

 
Supplies for 102 – Guage swatch; worsted weight yarn of your color choice to make project; Darning needle; stitch guage; size 7 or 8 US single pointed needles; scissors or yarn cutter; lined notebook; stitch counter.  (Please ask your customer service person at the store  for assistance in locating these items if you are unsure what to purchase.)
